FIVB Contract Signing Ceremony

Macau, Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (Thursday, July 8, 2010) – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG” or “Galaxy Entertainment”) announced today that it will title sponsor the “2010 Macau Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix” for the sixth consecutive year. Sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de Volleyball and organized by the Macau Sport Development Board and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China, the competition will take place between August 13 and 15 at the Macau Forum. The “2010 Macau Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix” will be held in Week 2 of this year’s FIVB World Grand Prix. Four resilient national teams including Brazil, China, Dominican Republic and the Netherlands will play against each other for the Macau leg Champion.

The organizing committee held a sponsorship contract signing ceremony and press conference this afternoon at GEG’s flagship StarWorld Hotel 8/F Grand Balloom to annouce the partipating teams and competition details. Under the witnesses of Mr. Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG and other VIP guests, Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG and Mr. Vong Iao Lak, President of Macau Sport Development Board signed the sponsorship agreement. Mr. Cheng also presented the MOP3 million sponsorship cheque to Mr. Vong.

As a responsible corporate citizen, GEG continually promotes and participates in various sports events and has title sponsored the Macau leg of FIVB World Grand Prix for six consecutive years. In an effort to increase spectators’ involvement and participation in this year’s FIVB, GEG announced that it will organize the “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player” Award voting activity again this year at the Macau Forum so that spectators can watch the exciting game and, at the same time, support their favorite player by submitting their vote. Last year, the “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player” Award was overwhelmingly well-received. At the first voting stage, Macau and Hong Kong media friends elected 2 players from each of the four participating national teams.

During the second voting stage, more than 6,000 spectators casted their votes. China’s national team player Wang Yimei, obtained the award last year. Wang, along with the lucky spectator who voted for her, both received valuable accommodation and F&B prizes from GEG’s flagship StarWorld Hotel. In addition, GEG and the organizing committee sincerely thanked both the Macau and Hong Kong Sports Press Associations for expertly shortlisting the players. GEG hopes that this year’s election can continue to receive the support from volleyball fans.
