8 Nominees Compete for the ‘My Favorite Galaxy Star Player’ Award

Thursday, August 05, 2010 – The first phase of voting for the “2010 Macau Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix My Favorite Galaxy Star Player Award” has been completed. The 8 nominated players, two from each of the participating national teams, are Xueming and Hui Ruoqi from China, Danielle Lins and Sheilla Castro from Brazil, Manon Flier and Debby Stam from Netherlands, and Lisvel Elisa Eve Mejia and Karla Echenique from Dominican Republic. The second phase of interactive voting will be held from August 13 to 15 at the Macau Forum by FIVB tournament spectators.

The first phase of voting began on July 13 and lasted for three weeks. Over 50 reporters from ten local and Hong Kong newspapers, magazines and TV stations participated, and they all selectedtwo players from each of the four participating national teams. The eight shortlisted players now have entered the second phase of votes, and during the three-day tournament, voting tickets will be handed out to spectators at the Macau Forum entrance and spectators can participate in the selection of their favorite player by placing their voting tickets into one of these eight voting boxes. The eight voting boxes will be tallied during the final match on Sunday, August 15, and the player to receive the most votes will take home the “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player” award.

This year’s “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player” will receive a fabulous two-night stay at the prestigious StarWorld Suite, complementary dinner-for- two at the renowned Japanese restaurant Inagiku, complementary buffet-for-two at Temptations Restaurant, lavish limousine transport services and other prizes worth a total of USD 3,000. One lucky spectator who casted his/her vote for this year’s “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player” will be drawn for the chance to win a luxurious one-night stay at StarWorld Hotel’s Executive Room, complementary lunch-for -two at Inagiku, complementary buffet dinner-for-two at Temptations Restaurant and other valuable prizes.

Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has always been supportive to promoting Macau’s social and cultural diversities, in particular sports development. Having collected in excess of 6,000 voting tickets from spectators last year, GEG anticipates that this year’s “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player Award” will attract even more spectators’ involvement and participation.

The “2010 Macau Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix” takes place from August 13 to 15 at the Macau Forum. The first match kicks off at 5:30pm with Brazil VS Dominican Republic, followed by China VS Netherlands. On August 14, Brazil will go against Netherlands while China battles against Dominican Republic at 2:30p.m. On August 15 – the last day of the tournament – matches begin at 1:00p.m. with Netherlands VS Dominican Republic.
