Galaxy Entertainment Group Held Grand Final of “Galaxy Got Talent 2012” for Team Members to Showcase Talents

October 18, 2012 – The Grand Final of Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”)’s annual talent show contest, “Galaxy Got Talent” was held at East Square of Galaxy Macau™ on Thursday, attracting almost 1,000 excited spectators. See Khai Shen from Environmental Services Department of Galaxy Macau stood out from the rest of the finalists with his flawless performance and took home the championship and fabulous prizes. Ticket sales at the event also raised MOP$125,000 and the proceeds were donated to Macau Deaf Association to support its community work.

In an effort to promote social integration of people with disabilities in the community, GEG specially invited members of Macau Deaf Association to participate in the kickoff show to perform a song in sign language together with the GEG volunteer team. Joining the sign-language choir on stage were Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG and Ms. Eileen Lui, Director of Human Resources & Administration, who sang the song along with the audience during the performance. The talent show received an overwhelming response from the spectators as not only did it offer them a fun and entertaining night, but it also gave them a chance to support charity.

The event raised a total of MOP$125,000 and Mr. Francis Lui presented the cheque to Mr. Wong A Peng, President of the Macau Deaf Association. With gratitude towards GEG’s effort in helping people with hearing impairment, Mr. Wong said, “The members of the association were all very excited when they found that they were being invited to perform for the show. I would also like to give my special thanks to the GEG volunteers for their effort in learning sign language. I am sure this performance would help to increase public awareness about the need of people with hearing impairment.”

Presented by GEG for the fourth consecutive year, the Grand Final of “Galaxy Got Talent” came down to 10 finalists with a mix of talents such as singing, dancing, acrobatics and beatboxing after two days of intense auditions. “Daddy’s Girls” formed by 6 team members from Front Office Department of StarWorld Hotel stood out with their hot dancing performance and was crowned the Group Champion with a total prize value of MOP80,800. One team member said, “In order to deliver our best performance, we have already spent a few months preparing for this contest. We are all very delighted to have won the appreciation of the judges as well as the applause and cheers from the spectators tonight.”

See Khai Shen from Environmental Services Department of Galaxy Macau won the championship in the solo performance section with his skillful beatboxing technique. He developed great interest in beatboxing and spent most of his spare time in practicing. He thanked the company for organizing this contest which offered him a chance to showcase his talent.

The judging panel of the contest was formed by Director of Macau Deaf Association Ms. Lau Sut Man, famous composer Mr. Joe Lei, Director of Newround Music Mr. John Ku, well-known TV host Mr. Rony Chan, Chairperson of Staff Social Club Ms. Joanna Barnes and Project Director of “Galaxy Got Talent” Ms. Trancy Koh. The show also presented a number of awards including the Best Dressed Award, the Best Showmanship Award as well as the Best Audience Cheering Team Award, newly added this year to enhance spectators’ involvement. A magic show performed by Mr. Gabriel Hunterton, Chief Operating Officer of StarWorld Hotel and Ms. Trancy Koh acted as a highlight in the contest to encourage GEG’s team members to develop their interests and talents.
