GEG Wins Four Awards in Macau Energy Saving Contest; Broadway Macau Takes Championship and Energy Saving Concept Award

February1, 2018 – As a responsible corporate citizen, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) supports the Macau SAR Government’s vision of “Building a Low-Carbon Macao, Creating Green Living Together” and proactively promotes energy conservation and sustainable development. GEG’s flagship property Broadway Macau™ participated for the first time in the Macau Energy Saving Contest, co-organized by Companhia de Electricidade de Macau and the Office for the Development of the Energy Sector, and won the Hotel Group B Championship and the Energy Saving Concept Award, two of the highest recognitions. StarWorld Hotel won the Continuous Energy Saving Award and the Excellence Award for the fourth consecutive year, highlighting GEG’s outstanding performance on energy conservation and carbon reduction.

Broadway Macau has adopted a series of energy-saving measures and continues to work toward optimizing its facilities and equipment. Measures taken include reducing lighting, installing high-efficiency lighting products, adopting a smart lighting system and temperature control system, and optimizing the central air conditioning system and refrigeration equipment. The car park smart lighting system has reduced energy consumption by over 80%, the optimized central air conditioning system has reduced energy consumption by 40% and the high-efficiency kitchen refrigeration facility has reduced energy consumption by 30%.

“These awards recognize the total effort put in by the team and prove that it does not matter whether it is a brand new development or a retrofitted building – as long as we are determined, the results will speak for themselves,” said Mr. Chan Chee Pong, Senior Vice President of Facilities Management for Galaxy Macau™.

In addition, Galaxy Macau is a two-time winner of the Energy Saving Concept Award and won the Excellence Award in 2016. In addition to introducing new hardware facilities and optimizing existing ones, GEG has also established an Environmental Committee and an Energy Management Committee to provide regular talks and training courses to promote energy conservation and environment protection to GEG team members. GEG has also participated in the World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour since 2012. GEG will continue to proactively reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions while providing a comfortable and healthy environment for its guests and team members and supporting the sustainable development of Macau.
