GEG Announces 70-Day Paid Maternity Leave to Promote Family Harmony on Galaxy Macau’s 7th Anniversary

May 15, 2018 – As a responsible corporate citizen, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) is committed to promoting family harmony and continuously enhancing its benefit policies for team members. Following the recent launch of five-day paid paternity leave for male employees, GEG is pleased to announce the implementation of 70 days of paid maternity leave, effective from today (May 15), as Galaxy Macau celebrates its seventh anniversary, in order to support the consultation results on paternity leave benefits recently released by the Macau Labour Affairs Bureau, and provide team members with longer duration for resting and taking care of their families after delivery.

All eligible female team members who give birth on or after May 15 and have completed one year of continuous service with GEG will be entitled to 70 days (10 weeks) of paid maternity leave, which is an enhancement from the entitlement of 56 days (8 weeks) as provisioned under the labor law of Macau. Recognizing team members as the most valuable assets, GEG has been optimizing its family-friendly policies in order to help employees balance their work and family life. For example, to address the needs of its team members, GEG has recently implemented a five-day paid paternity leave for all eligible male employees. Additionally, GEG provides comfortable and hygienic breastfeeding facilities at back-of-house areas for nursing mothers who have returned to work. GEG will continue to review and reinforce its benefit policies for team members in order to meet the needs of social development.

To celebrate the seventh anniversary of Galaxy Macau with team members and recognize their hard work throughout the years, GEG organized a series of joyous activities at Heart of House areas under the theme of “We are Family”. Attaching importance to staff meals, GEG held a food fair at Team Member canteens to provide a variety of Chinese, Portuguese and Asian specialties specifically prepared by chefs from different GEG restaurants for team members. The dishes are named after festive elements as a way to extend blessings. The anniversary celebration with team members featured various snacks and game booths. Moreover, GEG management surprised team members by presenting snacks and souvenirs at back-of-house areas to thank their continuous efforts.

“GEG’s remarkable achievements are attributable to the hard work and commitment of our team members to demonstrate GEG’s ‘Asian Heart’ service philosophy to hospitality,” said Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG. “We are proud of our team members for making valuable contributions to the company and demonstrating team spirit constantly. In the future, GEG will continue to not only provide a joyful and healthy working environment for team members, but also career opportunities.”
