Galaxy Got Talent 2018 Showcases Team Members’ Talents; GEG Raises Funds for Caritas Macau

September 13, 2018 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) held the 10th annual Galaxy Got Talent event, in which team members showcased a diverse range of entertaining talents. With “The Perfect 10” as the theme of Galaxy Got Talent 2018, new elements were incorporated to celebrate the 10-year milestone, such as the Galaxy Team Member Fun Day, which advocated the importance of environmental protection. In the spirit of GEG’s philosophy of “what is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, funds from ticket sales, as well as a grant from GEG, were donated to Caritas Macau. Honorary guests of the event included: Ms. Zhu Hong, Deputy Director General of Economic Affairs Department, Liaison Office of The Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region; Mr. Leong Man Ion, Acting Director, Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau; Mr. Cheng Wai Tong, Acting Director, Macau Government Tourism Office; Ms. Hoi Va Pou, Deputy Director, Social Welfare Bureau; and Mr. Cheang Kai Meng, Chief of the Division of Recreational Activities, Cultural Affairs Bureau.

Attracting an audience of over 1,000 people, the Grand Final of Galaxy Got Talent 2018 was held on September 13 at Broadway Theatre. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event, some of the finalists from the previous nine years returned to the stage to kick off this year’s Grand Final with dance and musical performances. Following them, a group of elderly residents of the Caritas’s Longevity Special Day Care Center took the stage to perform the “Happy Dance”. Afterwards, a cheque for MOP100,000, raised from ticket sales and GEG donations, was handed to Caritas Macau, to support the development of Caritas’ community services. The honorary guests, along with Mr. Robert Drake, Group Chief Financial Officer of GEG; Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG; and Mr. Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer, Macau of GEG, then commenced the finalist performances. The 10 groups of finalists wowed the audience with performances – both Chinese and international, contemporary and traditional – which ranged from magic shows and opera to contemporary and folk dance. Meticulous attention to detail was evident in the stage decoration, as well as the finalists’ costumes and make-up. The contestants brought the audience to its feet with their wonderful performances, which were scored by a panel of judges that included Mr. Li Hung Kit, experienced Hong Kong artist and choreographer; Professor Joseph Victor Gonzales, Head of Academic and Contextual Studies in Dance and MFA Coordinator (Dance), the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts; Mr. Paul, Pun Chi Meng, Secretary General, Caritas Macau; and Mr. John Ku, Executive Director, Daya Artists Consultancy Limited.

Ms. Trancy Koh, Vice President of Production, Entertainment, GEG and Director of Galaxy Got Talent 2018, said, “It is the 10th anniversary of Galaxy Got Talent. The company has shown continuous support over the years, which reflects its emphasis on the development of team members’ talents. From the first Galaxy Got Talent till now, we have been striving to provide the perfect stage for our contestants, whose talents are in full bloom. The finalists have come a long way through all the elimination stages. No matter whether they bring home a prize or not, they have proven themselves to be outstanding performers.” In addition to the talent competition, GEG executives dressed up as classic movie characters and thrilled the audience with a special act, which enlivened the night’s atmosphere while representing GEG’s Asian Heart service philosophy: attentive, warm, respectful, sincere, culturally sensitive, from the heart, anticipatory and passionate.

At the GEG Team Member Fun Day, team members were invited to play games to win prizes. Moreover, delectable snacks were prepared for team members by the F&B teams at GEG’s flagship properties. Echoing the Macau SAR Government’s vision of “building a low-carbon Macau, creating green living together”, GEG has been proactively promoting the concept of energy conservation and sustainable development. The GEG Team Member Fun Day focused on green living. In addition to inviting team members to build game booths with reused materials, GEG also encouraged team members to bring their own utensils to enjoy the Fun Day’s food offerings while reducing the use of disposable utensils.

Over these 10 years, Galaxy Got Talent has been the stage where GEG team members showcase their talents, as well as one of the platforms through which GEG spread love and care across Macau. Beneficiary organizations have included Caritas Macau, Fountain of Hope, Fuhong Society of Macau, Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau, Macau Down Syndrome Association and Macau Special Olympics. Moving forward, GEG will continue to promote a healthy work-life balance through a diverse range of methods and serve the community by cooperating with social service organizations.
