GEG Presents Cheque Donation to Macao Association Parents of Mentally Handicapped Persons and Holds Fun-filled Workshop for Its Members

May 1, 2014 - With Mother’ Day fast approaching, the senior executives and the volunteer team of Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) warmly visited Macao Association Parents of Mentally Handicapped Persons on Tuesday and donated a cheque for MOP 100,000 in support of its charitable work. During the visit, the volunteer team specially hosted a fun-filled workshop for the members of the Association to create meaningful Mother’s Day cards and at the same time develop finger dexterity and communication skills.

Mr. Michael Mecca, President & Chief Operating Officer of GEG, visited Dawn Center of the Association with Mr. Buddy Lam, Vice President of Public Relations, to present the cheque to Ms. Ruby Lou, Chairlady of the Executive Board of the Association. Mr. Mecca was also given a tour around the Center to visit some of the facilities that can help its members improve skills and flexibility, including the art space and the multisensory room.

Ms. Ruby Lou, Chairlady of the Executive Board of the Association, thanked GEG for the donation and said, “I truly appreciate GEG’s efforts to promote a harmonious community not only through charitable donation but also a variety of social integration initiatives, such as inviting our members to perform for its staff activities. The donation from GEG will help us further refine our service and facilities to enable a better life for our members.”

During the visit, the GEG volunteers specially organized a fun-filled workshop for nearly 30 members of the Association to create meaningful Mother’s Day cards for their loved ones. With the help of the friendly volunteers, the members were able to showcase their creative talent by decorating the gift cards with colorful paper flowers and graphic patterns. Sio, who has been a member of the association for more than ten years, said, “I have made a very beautiful gift card for my sister. She is already a mother and I hope that she can be surrounded by love on this special day.”

It was the first time for Gogo Lok, the graphic designer of the public relations department, to host a handcraft workshop for the people with disability. “I was very excited about it and have spent a lot of time preparing for the materials. I am happy that the activity turned out to be great fun for everyone participating in it and it gave me great satisfaction to see that the activity has brought so much happiness to the members.”
