Galaxy Entertainment Group Held the Grand Final of “Galaxy Got Talent 2011”

November 10, 2011 – Have you ever thought of a friendly waiter could be a breakdancing king or have you ever imagined a computer technician not fixing a computer but doing fun magic tricks? Last night, the Banyan Ballroom at Banyan Tree Macau became the stage where true talents were unveiled as a number of Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) ’s team members competed for the awards of “Galaxy Got Talent 2011 ” with their fantastic acts. The event also served to delivery care to the community through raising fund from the ticket sales for a local community association.

This is already the third “Galaxy Got Talent” held by GEG’s Staff Social Club. After two days of auditions, 12 acts were shortlisted including Chinese dramatic art face-changing, magic show and singing and dancing. It was a tight battle but Ms. Dorothy Gomez from Galaxy Macau - Security was able to stand out with her beautiful voice and took home the champion, together with a cash prize of MOP$10,000. She said, “I spent few months preparing for this competition. I got very nervous on the stage but I am so happy that I was able to impress the judges and the audience. I would like to thank GEG for organizing this kind of activity, which allows us to show off our talents.”

Delighted by the whole-hearted performance by the contestants, Ms. Eileen Lui, Director of Human Resources & Administration of GEG, said, “I think every contestant is very talented. I was very pleased with their outstanding performances on the stage and I’m just happy to see that our team members are trying to be at their best not just at work but in everything that they do in life.”

Mr. Cheong Ho Ian, Vice President of the Macao Association of Parents of Mentally Handicapped Persons, Mr. Garry Chiu, Promotion Manager of Snazz Entertainment Group, Mr. John Ku, Director of Newround Music, Ms. J J Jia, famous Hong Kong artist and Ms. Koh Bok Seng, Project Director of “Galaxy Got Talent 2011” were invited to be the judges for the competition. The Best Dress Award and the Audience Choice Award were presented in the competition while the Best Showmanship Award was awarded to Eddie Chan of Galaxy Macau – Resort Services.

Hoping to draw people’s attention on building a harmonious relationship with people with disability through the competition, GEG invited “Sunshine Band”, formed by the members of the association to present a kick-off performance. Mr. Cheong Ho Ian, Vice President of the Association expressed his gratitude to GEG for the invitation and said, “I am sure this will be a memorable experience to the band. The performance signaled the progress people with disabilities made in arts and music. It also helped spreading the message of ‘social inclusion’ to the society.”

All GEG’s team members and their families were welcomed to participate in the event. As the event offered its spectators the opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled evening and make charitable contributions at the same time, the ticket sale of the event received overwhelming response from the team members, among which, some senior members purchased a ticket with MOP$2000. The event raised a total of MOP$100,000 for the Association and a cheque presentation ceremony was held during the event in which Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG, presented the cheque to Mr. Cheong Ho Ian, Vice President of the Association.
