Galaxy Entertainment Group Spreads Care to the Underprivileged Through Hamper Distribution and Donation

Jun 11, 2015 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) is dedicated to giving back to the community by offering support to Macau’s different charity groups. Showing its appreciation to the charitable work of the Macau Holy House of Mercy (“SCMM”), recently, GEG donated MOP300,000 to SCMM’s Welfare Shop Programme and mobilized a team of GEG volunteers to assist SCMM in distributing food hampers to 340 underprivileged families.

On the event day, Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG and Mr. Buddy Lam, Vice President of Public Relations of GEG represented the Group in visiting SCMM’s Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind where they met with Mr. António José de Freitas, President of SCMM and presented him with GEG’s MOP300,000 donations in witness of Mr. Leong Heng Kao, President of the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau and Ms. Wong Kuai Leng, Vice-Presidente da Direcção of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions.

Around 20 GEG volunteers helped distributed the food hampers to the 340 receiving underprivileged families that day, and since each hamper contains basic food and household items such as rice, cooking oil, canned foods and cleansing liquids, etc. receiving them can help alleviate the financial burden faced by these underprivileged families.

Ms. Wing Ho, a GEG volunteer from the finance department, took part in GEG’s volunteering activities the first time. She enrolled in this event with hopes of gaining more knowledge about how Macau’s charity associations operate and through participating, she believes that food hamper distribution is very meaningful, “The hamper contains basic food and necessity items which can really help those in need. I am delighted to be given the opportunity to help out and I will continue to participate in GEG’s volunteering in the future.”  As a responsible corporate citizen, GEG has always been supportive of Macau’s development and will continue to support Macau’s different charities on their work in spreading warmth and care to society.
