Today, GEG held the “Galaxy Entertainment Group Workplace Health and Safety and Local Talent Development Celebration Event 2021”. Mr. Wong Chi Hong, Director of Labor Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government (“DSAL”), was invited to witness GEG’s reaffirmed commitment to WHS and talent cultivation, as well as team members’ outstanding performance in related programs.

The celebration event was held this morning in the Grand Ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton Macau, Galaxy Macau™. Additional attending guests included Mr. Chan Un Tong, Deputy Director of DSAL; Mr. Lei Seak Chio, Acting Department Head of Occupational Safety and Health Department of DSAL; Mr. Cheong Kin Weng, Acting Division Head of Skills Evaluation Division of Vocational Training Department of DSAL; Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG; Mr. Robert Drake, Group Chief Financial Officer of GEG; Mr. Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer – Macau of GEG.

In his speech, Director Wong said, “Sustaining a high-standard WHS practice while also retaining and cultivating talent is key to ensuring the long-term development of Macau’s integrated tourism and leisure industry. This requires effort from all sectors of the community, including employees, employers and the government. GEG has been proactively fostering a widely embraced WHS corporate culture and launching various talent-development programs, which demonstrates that it highly values its team members’ talents and well-being.” In her speech, Ms. Eileen Lui said, “GEG has dedicated itself to promoting WHS to its team members through diversified activities, with an aim of enhancing team members’ related awareness. On behalf of GEG, I would like to thank DSAL for its guidance and support to GEG’s WHS promotional work. Additionally, GEG has proactively supported the Macau SAR Government’s policy of ‘Building Macau through Talent Training’ and allocated resources to cultivate more talent for Macau’s integrated resort industry and foster Macau’s economic diversification.”

The celebration event began with a video about GEG’s WHS promotional work in 2021. This year, GEG continued to co-organize the Hotel and Catering Industry Safety Card Training Program with DSAL, where team members can learn more about WHS knowledge and regulations. To date, 95% of GEG team members have completed the program – the highest completion rate in the industry. In addition, GEG recently co-launched a variety of engaging seminars and interactive roadshows with DSAL to further improve team members’ WHS awareness. In particular, the final round of the “Let’s Stretch Out Competition”, co-organized by GEG and DSAL, took place during the celebration event. Team from StarWorld Hotel won the championship after three rounds of exciting games. Additionally, team members who had distinguished themselves in GEG’s WHS programs were presented with awards, including the “Best Practice and Team Members Selection” Award and the “WHS Quiz – Think for Safety” Award.

To cultivate local talent in Macau, GEG provided team members with career development and training programs in a variety of fields, to assist them in achieving personal growth. Throughout 2021, GEG’s talent development programs provided more than one million training hours to team members. These programs include the IR-LEAD Career Diversification Program, the Casino Management Development Program, the Restaurant Management Development Program, and the Facilities Management Upskilling Program, all of which aim to cultivate talent for GEG and the integrated resort industry in various fields. Moreover, besides supporting the Internship Career Experience Program organized by DSAL for the second year, GEG re-launched the U-LEAD Graduate Internship Program. During the celebration event, outstanding participants shared their gains from the various development programs and received certificates and awards. After the celebration event, Director Wong Chi Hong and other guests visited the roadshows and game booths that co-organized by GEG and DSAL in Galaxy Macau’s back-of-house area.

Moving forward, GEG will continue to uphold its corporate philosophy of “What is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community” and support Macau SAR Government’s policies on cultivating talent in various areas, as well as foster Macau’s development into a “World Center of Leisure and Tourism”.
