“GEG Presents: Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones” Promotes Cutting-edge Technology to Local Schools

May 23, 2022  To echo the Macau SAR Government’s “Macau Thrives on Education” and “Building Macau through Talent Training” policies, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) cultivates local talents through various approaches. Since 2019, GEG has been enhancing young people’s understanding of the country’s latest technologies and cultivating their innovative thinking and related interests by title-sponsoring the “Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones” and promoting drone technology and application to 30 of Macau’s local schools. Following the recent activities held at Sacred Heart Canossian College English Section and Colégio Diocesano de São José, Cinta Escola, another promotional activity was held today for applauding teachers and students at the Pui Ching Middle School Macau.

Today’s activity was joined by Mr. Leong I On, Division Head of Secondary Education of Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macau SAR Government; Dr. Kou Kam Fai, Principal, and Mr. Kuok Keng Man and Dr. Chan Keng Lim, Vice-Principals of Pui Ching Middle School Macau; Ms. Joyce Yu, Vice President of Public Relations of GEG; Mr. António José de Freitas, Director of the University of Macau; and Mr. Pan Sio, Director of Macao Science Center. To help teachers and students better understand drone technology, the program introduced them to the history of drone development, its operating principles and structure, as well as its application in various fields in China. In addition, videos of the drone light shows were shown on site, including the GEG Presents Drone Show of the “Light up Macao Drone Gala 2022” held by Macao Government Tourism Office of the Macau SAR Government earlier this month, and the Aerial Drone Light Show that GEG hosted at Galaxy Macau™ in 2019 in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Macau SAR and the 2019 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon. Furthermore, the event also included a drone show performance and a session where students were invited to try flying the drones under the guidance of technicians. The participating students said the activities helped enhance their understanding of the country’s technological development and stimulated their interests in drone technology and programing.

As a partner of the “Light up Macao Drone Gala 2022”, GEG presented Macau residents and visitors a fascinating drone light show under the theme of “Golden Fall Delights show”, synchronizing 880 drones with lights and music which lit up the night sky with a series of graphics celebrating the city’s unique tourism and East-meets-West cultural characteristics. Additionally, the drones also presented a skyline of GEG’s flagship properties, its signature Diamond Show and peacock elements at Galaxy Macau, to express GEG’s best wishes for Macau. With the support of Education and Youth Development Bureau, during the event, GEG also arranged students from Pui Ching Middle School Macau a visit on site, to learn about drone operation, formation, features and other requirements in preparation of a drone show so that they can better understand the technology.

Over the years, GEG has been dedicated to promoting national conditions to local youth and community, including the country’s technological development. Last year, GEG has title-sponsored the “GEG Macau Cup – Youth National Education Competition” for the 13th consecutive year, and presented an indoor drone show combining shimmering light effects and synchronized drone performances to the participating students during the ceremony to showcase the country’s technological advancement. During the Aerial Drone Light Show in 2019, GEG also invited students from the “Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones” to watch the show on site earlier. Moving forward, GEG will continue to make good use of its resources and help promote national conditions and popular science to broaden the horizons of the young generation and support Macau’s talent cultivation.
