The event is hosted by Yao Foundation and China Youth Development Foundation, co-sponsored by Chinese Basketball Association, supported by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau SAR; the Sports Bureau, the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the Health Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and The Federation of Macau-China Sports General Association, co-hosted and operated by Colorfull Cultural Technology Co., Ltd., co-organized by CCTV Sports, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Macau-China Basketball Association, Starz Sports Youth Culture Co., Ltd , Megahub Planning Co., Ltd., and title-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group.

Making its debut in Macao, the Yao Foundation Charity Games is going to deliver a basketball-night extravaganza at the Galaxy Arena at the Galaxy Macau integrated resort on September 17, featuring an epic showdown between the Chinese and international all-star teams. The line-up of Chinese all-stars team includes CBA Champion players such as Zhai Xiaochuan and Kyranbek Makhan. The international all-star cast includes Jimmer Fredette and Clarence Weems. There are total 4 periods in the game and the third session is the traditional highlight of the event. The teenager players of the 12th Yao Foundation Hope Primary School Basketball League (2022-2023) from rural communities will team up with the elite players to compete in this session. In addition, there will be a series of extended activities including philanthropy forum, campus visit and basketball carnival open to the public.

The Charity Game has been successfully held ten times, garnering support from over 100 basketball stars from around the world. Among these top athletes are Chinese basketball icons Yi Jianlian, Du Feng, and Zhu Fangyu, and NBA legends Steve Nash and Tracy McGrady. From 2012 to 2023, the Yao Foundation has remained steadfast in its commitment, as evidenced by an expansion of its annual beneficiary count from a modest 47 schools to an impressive 1,500 institutions. Its mission centres on harnessing the power of sport and rallying the collective strength of society to drive the development of opportunities for youth in rural communities. The visionary behind the foundation, Yao Ming, who also serves as the Chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association, is passionate about extending the warmth and excitement of this basketball-centred philanthropic extravaganza across the Greater Bay Area and into the hearts of a broader circle of corporations, institutions and individuals. Together, they aim to multiply the impact on the general public of Chinese philanthropic sporting events.
