May 9, 2024 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) proactively supports the Macau SAR Government’s policies on workplace health and safety (“WHS”) by promoting a WHS culture in its properties and instilling related knowledge to team members through multi-pronged approaches. As one of the first enterprises to participate in the Healthy Enterprise Program jointly organized by the Health Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and the Macao Healthy City Committee, recently, GEG set up Health Monitoring Stations in the back-of-house areas at its different properties. Together with a series of health-promoting initiatives, GEG hopes to create a healthy and safe workplace for team members and encourages them to take initiatives to care and manage their well-being.
A kick-off ceremony for the Health Monitoring Stations was held earlier in the back-of-house area of the Galaxy Macau™ integrated resort, with distinguished guests including Ms. Valerie Wong, Head of Health Promotion Division of Centre for Disease Prevention and Control of the Health Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and her team, and GEG management team members from various related departments. As part of the Healthy Enterprise Program, the Health Monitoring Stations are equipped with various health monitoring devices that enable team members to measure their own physical health parameters on-site, such as height and weight, heart rate, blood pressure, and body mass index. Through this initiative, GEG hopes to support team members to better understand their health status and to proactively manage and enhance their well-being. During the event, GEG representatives also showcased to the Health Bureau delegates about GEG’s other health-promotion initiatives, and jointly visited GEG’s staff canteen and WHS information display boards to learn about GEG’s related efforts in integrating health promoting measures into its daily operations.
Since the launch of the Healthy Enterprise Program, GEG has implemented a number of health-promoting measures for its team members. These include introducing healthy dishes in its staff canteens to promote the concept of low sugar, salt and fat recipes; and engaging team members in exercising and stretching moderately during their leisure time, thereby improving their overall well-being and cultivating healthy habits. In addition, GEG also proactively disseminates WHS related information through posters and various channels, including the notice boards and televisions in the back-of-house areas, as well as through the internal mobile application “GEG Buzz”, with an aim to deepen team members’ knowledge on health and disease-prevention, and to emphasize the importance of WHS.
Over the years, GEG has launched various activities and training programs to promote WHS awareness to its team members. Recently, GEG collaborated with the Guangdong Performance Industry Association in introducing the first “GEG Event Occupational Safety Card Certification Program” to Macau for more than 40 team members of Galaxy Arena. Additionally, GEG co-organized a number of stretching workshops, WHS roadshows and first-aid seminars with the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government last year, attracting a total participation of more than 3,000 team members. Since 2018, GEG also co-organized the Hotel and Catering Occupational Safety Card Training Program, with over 15,000 team members completed the training. Moving forward, GEG will continue to actively support the Macau SAR Government’s health and WHS policies, and contribute to the development of “Healthy Macau”.
