GEG Internship Program Supports Local Talent Development

Macau, Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, (August 26, 2019) – In support of local talent development, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) offers young people the opportunity to gain work experience through the GEG Integrated Resort Internship Program. GEG launched the program for local students in 2008 to prepare them for successful careers in the tourism industry.  Since then, over 600 students from a range of educational institutions have participated in the program.  GEG is committed to offering work experiences opportunities for young people interested in the tourism industry to nurture local talent in Macao, and enable the city in becoming a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.

GEG recently held the GEG Integrated Resort Internship Program
Appreciation Gathering to recognize nearly 80 students from the University of Macau, the Macau University of Science and Technology, the City University of Macau, the Macao Polytechnic Institute, the Institute for Tourism Studies, Caritas School, Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and ELCTP technical school (ELCTP). Macau residents who are studying overseas also participated in the program. The comprehensive program offers interns the opportunity to rotate across a range of business units, including in the Administration, Housekeeping, Guest Services and Marketing department.

Institute for Tourism Studies student Ms. Karena Kuan said that completing her internship program in the Human Resources and Administration Department had given her an in-depth understand of integrated resort operations. “This meaningful internship program helped me gain professional knowledge and personal development for my future career development,” she said.

In addition, GEG ran a tailored internship program for students with special needs from ELCTP, Caritas School and other institutions referred by the DSAL. Caritas School principal Mr. Shek Chiu Cheung said, “I appreciate GEG providing these internship opportunities and ongoing support for our special needs students. A well-organized internship program helps the students develop practical work skills in a short period of time to help them prepare for a successful future.”
