GEG Hosts “Zero to Hero” Movie Screening and Sharing Session to Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with Local Community

September 20, 2021 – Throughout the years, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has proactively participated and supported different sports events and activities as well as promoted the related exchanges in the local community. With the approach of Mid-Autumn Festival, GEG invited members and service users from Macao Special Olympics (“MSO”), the Richmond Fellowship of Macau, Macau IC2 Association, Concordia School for Special Education; as well as team members from the GEG Runner’s Club and the Volunteer Team to the “Mid-Autumn Fun – ‘Zero to Hero’ Movie Screening and Sharing Session” where they spent a heartwarming day together. During the event, GEG also gave the participants specially designed cookies and traditional mooncakes to further enlighten the event’s joyous atmosphere.

The event was held earlier at Galaxy Cinemas in Galaxy Macau™, with the participation of over 160 members and their families from the four social service associations and GEG team members. Ms. Christine Lam Lin Kio, Acting President of the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government; Mr. Clarence Choi Sio Un, Head of the Social Solidarity Department of the Social Welfare Bureau of the Macau SAR Government; Ms. Carol Tai Oi Chan, Head of the Events Promotion and International Relations Division of the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government; Ms. Sou Chi Kuan, Head of Rehabilitation Service Division of the Social Welfare Bureau of Macau SAR Government; Ms. Christina Sin, Senior Manager of Public Relations – Corporate Social Responsibility of GEG and other guests officiated the event. While the 14th National Games is being held, GEG hopes to encourage the participants to keep striving for advancement and achievement through the “Zero to Hero” movie screening, which tells the story and sportsmanship of Mr. So Wa Wai, Hong Kong's Paralympic Games gold-medalist sprinter.

In the sharing session that was held after the movie, a number of participants shared their reflections, and related experiences in sports training. MSO members shared their dedication and commitment of extra time and effort on training. Having thought about giving up, they were encouraged to keep striving from the support of their families and coaches. Meanwhile, team members from the GEG Runner’s Club and participants of the Marathon “Run with a Partner” Training Program that was co-launched by GEG and MSO earlier this year, said that the program gave them the opportunity to build close friendships with MSO members, improve their health, engage with different people and promote social inclusion. After the sharing session, GEG team members distributed mooncakes and gold medal shaped cookies that were specially prepared by F&B Department to the participants, in hopes of letting them know that they can all be number ones by never giving up.

Upholding its philosophy of “what is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, GEG has held different community events at various festive seasons in order to spread love and care to the community. These include sending hand-knit scarfs to the elderly during this Chinese New Year and hosting Easter Egg Workshop in collaborating with the Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau during Easter this year. In addition, GEG is committed to promoting social inclusion as well. This May, GEG co-launched an eight-month Marathon “Run with a Partner” Training Program with MSO for MSO members and GEG team members from the Runner’s Club to participate in regular marathon training. As a socially responsible corporation, GEG will continue to organize different activities for all sectors of society to help build a harmonious society.
