GEG Becomes First Gaming Operator to Launch Electric Buses

March 29, 2018 – In support of the environmental policies of the Macau SAR Government and the global effort to protect the environment, as well as to help realize the vision of “Building a Low Carbon Macao, Creating Green Living Together” proposed in “Macao's Environmental Protection Conceptual Planning (2010-2020)”, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has become the first gaming operator to introduce electric passenger buses in Macau. GEG expects to increase the number of its electric buses in future in order to further contribute to the improvement of roadside air quality for the community and answer the call of the Secretariat for Transport and Public Works and the Transport Bureau to convert to new energy buses.

GEG introduced its electric buses in late 2017, after several months of performance assessment and trial operations. GEG’s electric buses have already begun service carrying visitors on its Border Gate route. Compared with diesel-powered buses, GEG’s electric buses are propelled solely by electric motors, which are energy efficient and produce zero emissions and little noise. Theses buses minimize harmful effects on our environment by reducing air pollution to improve roadside air quality, and the buses are expected to achieve great cost savings over time.

As a responsible corporate citizen, GEG embraces environment-friendly corporate culture in daily operations. Its flagship properties Galaxy Macau™ and StarWorld Hotel have obtained ISO14001 Environmental Management System Certification. Additionally, GEG has established an Environmental Committee and an Energy Management Committee to promote energy conservation and environment protection among its team members. GEG will continue to help enhance the overall environment for residents and visitors and support Macau’s development into a world-class capital of green tourism.
