GEG Blood Drive Completes Tenth Year

July 12, 2018 – Proactively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has held its annual blood donation event in conjunction with the Macao Blood Transfusion Center under the Health Bureau for the tenth consecutive year. During the event, GEG set up blood donation booths at its properties and encouraged its team members to donate blood. Since 2009, upwards of 1,500 team members have participated in GEG’s annual blood donation event, with great enthusiasm shown each year. The 2018 GEG Blood Donation Day took place at Galaxy MacauTM on July 9 and at StarWorld Hotel yesterday. GEG hopes that these events promote a culture of civic responsibility among team members.

Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG; Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration, GEG, Mr. Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer, Macau of GEG, and other senior executives attended the event to express their support and heartfelt appreciation for the team members’ contributions to a meaningful cause. The two days also saw many long-term, repeat donors. Among them was Henry Chan, who works in the Design and Development Department. He has participated in the annual event for eight straight years. Chan said, “Since blood donation is a meaningful cause, I am sure to come support this event every year. Although it’s a small contribution, I will still do my utmost to help those in need.” Some donors even managed to inspire their fellow colleagues to make unplanned contributions.

Each year, the blood donation venues are nicely decorated and comfortable, thanks to the efforts of the GEG Staff Social Club. Additionally, members of the Food and Beverage Department prepare refreshments for the donors, and each donor is given a photograph that captures the moment he or she donates blood. As part of a drive to support the local cultural and creative sector, all donors this year received a handcrafted luggage tag made by members of the Fu Hong Society of Macau to mark this special occasion.

To live up to its pledge of “Making a Difference by Making a Commitment”, GEG regularly rolls out various initiatives, including the annual blood donation event. Since 2012, GEG has received certificates of recognition from the Health Bureau, including Team Recognition for Top Number of Blood Donors – champion, Team Recognition for Top Number of Blood Donors – first runner-up, the Organization with Most Rh-Negative Blood Donation Award, Team Recognition for Blood Donation Motivation, and Outstanding Blood Donation Motivation. GEG will continue to make the most of its resources, collaborating with various social groups to create a better community.
