GEG Launches DSAL Workplace Safety Training Program

Committed to maintaining a safe work environment for team members, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) supports the Macau SAR Government’s measures promoting occupational safety and health. In cooperation with the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), GEG recently launched the Hotel and Catering Industry Safety Card Training program. The training, conducted by GEG’s DSAL-certified team members, is designed to improve employees’ awareness of regulations, procedures and principles related to occupational safety and health. GEG has set a timeframe of three years for all of its team members to complete the training program.

The first batch of employees to complete the program was comprised of more than 100 operations team members from the Hotel, Housekeeping, F&B, Engineering and Table Games Departments. The six-hour program covers Macau’s occupational safety and health laws, prevention of accidents, kitchen safety, operation of forklifts, safe use of work platforms, conflict management, manual handling guidelines, electrical and fire safety, workplace setting,  personal protective equipment, emergency procedures, handling of accidents and dangers, and more. Team members who complete the program and pass the exam are issued DSAL’s Hotel and Catering Industry Safety Cards, which are valid for five years.

GEG places special importance on workplace safety. Through the training, GEG hopes to lower the risk of work injury and occupational diseases, and thus safeguarding the safety and health of its team members. Mr. Ip Man Him, from the F&B Department, attended the first Safety Card Training program. He said, “The training introduced me to the 5S workplace organization method, which is helping me to organize and store ingredients and goods effectively. By creating a tidy workspace, the risk of slipping and tripping is substantially lowered.”

In addition to introducing the Hotel and Catering Industry Safety Card Training program, GEG also enrolls team members in DSAL’s other training programs, such as the Hotel and Catering Chef Training Program and the Facility Maintenance Technical Training Program. Moving forward, GEG will continue to cooperate with DSAL in efforts to improve team member safety.
