GEG Becomes the Official Sponsor of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League – Macau 2019

April 10, 2019 – Taking a proactive approach to supporting the Macau SAR Government’s vision of developing the city’s sport tourism and name-brand events, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has been named the official sponsor of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League – Macau 2019, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and jointly organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and the Volleyball Association of Macau, China. The press conference for the tournament was held recently at the Ritz-Carlton, Macau, located at Galaxy Macau™. Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau, and Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, signed a sponsorship agreement before officiating the kick-off ceremony together with Mr. Ma Iao Ian, President of the Volleyball Association of Macao, China.

From May 28 to 30 at the Macau Forum, the four participating teams of the Macau leg of the tournament — China, Belgium, South Korea and Thailand — will showcase their best skills and stun citizens and tourists alike. Moreover, GEG will organize the My Favorite Galaxy Star Player and Team Awards, as well as fun-filled game booths, to engage spectators in the excitement of the tournament.

At the press conference, Mr. Cheng said, “GEG has always supported the Macau SAR Government’s positioning of the city as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure and has taken a proactive approach in supporting the development of sport tourism and local name-brand events such as this tournament. Moving forward, GEG will continue to optimize local tourism carrying capacity by playing to its own strengths – hospitality, accommodations, F&B, leisure and entertainment.”

Committed to supporting the Macau SAR Government’s goal of bringing international tournaments to Macau, as well as to creating name-brand sporting events, GEG has been title-sponsoring the Macau leg of the FIVB women’s volleyball tournament, which was rebranded last year as the Volleyball Nations League, for 13 consecutive years. The four competing teams will once again this year stay in GEG’s flagship properties during the tournament.
