GEG Crowned Champion in the Macau Leg of the 10th GHKM Safety Knowledge Competition

July 18, 2019 – In support of the Macau SAR Government’s occupational safety and health policies, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has been fostering a culture of occupational safety and health on its premises, and sparing no effort in creating a safe and comfortable working environment for its team members. GEG recently won the championship title in the Corporation Category in the Macau leg of the 10th Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau (GHKM) Safety Knowledge Competition organized by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), and will be representing Macau in the Grand Final of the GHKM Safety Knowledge Competition in November.

The 10th GHKM Safety Knowledge Competition took place in the Lotus Function Room at the World Trade Center Macau on July 13. With 600 points (out of 620 possible), Galaxy Entertainment Group Team A defeated 11 other teams and took home the championship in the General Corporation Category after three rounds of quizzes. Building on their success, the GEG team outperformed the winner of the Construction Corporation Category to become the first integrated resort to be crowned as champions in the Corporation Category, and will represent Macau in the Grand Final, which will take place in Hong Kong.

Mr. Louis Leong of the Hotel Okura Housekeeping Department, a member of the winning team, said that, “It is our great honor to be representing Macau to compete at the Grand Final. This remarkable result can only be achieved with the company’s unreserved support and the team’s concerted effort. The company offered us structured training before the competition; and organized an Environmental, Health and Safety Quiz Competition last month, which strengthened our confidence. We will perform our best at the Grand Final in November with the goal of taking home a title.”

GEG is honored to be the first integrated resort to represent Macau at the Grand Final this year. At the ninth edition of the Macau leg of the GHKM Safety Knowledge Competition, GEG won the second runner-up title. Being able to take home the championship title in the 10th edition of the competition this year reflects GEG’s achievement in promoting occupational safety and health amongst team members. GEG will continue to work with team members in operating safe and comfortable resort and entertainment facilities.
