History

Galaxy Casino, S.A. was incorporated as a limited liability company in Macau on 30 November 2001.

In February 2002, Galaxy Casino, S.A. was granted a gaming concession by the Macau government, beating out 18 other quality contenders from the USA, Europe and Asia. In July 2005, Galaxy became Hong Kong's first listed gaming operator consolidating the company's strength and commitment to future growth.

Galaxy held its initial recruitment drive early in 2004 to fill 1,000 vacancies at Waldo Casino. The response was staggering, attracting 30,000 applicants, and clearly demonstrated the community's enthusiasm for the industry and belief in Galaxy's future.

The first CityClub casino at the Waldo Hotel opened in July 2004, located in close proximity to the Macau Ferry Terminal. The Waldo Casino proved highly successful and confirmed Galaxy's future strategic direction.

Rio Casino opened in February 2006, amid the bustling NAPE business district. Galaxy's second CityClub continues to be popular with VIP guests and offers an opulent, classically inspired experience.

Fast on the heels of Rio, Galaxy's third CityClub; the President Casino opened just two months later in April 2006, followed by Galaxy's first operation in Cotai; the Grand Waldo Casino in May 2006.

Galaxy's stunning flagship property, the StarWorld Hotel and Casino opened to acclaim in October 2006, and provides five star luxury gaming, dining, gaming and lavishly designed accommodation.

Continuing it's meteoric pace and crowning jewel in the Galaxy crown, the much anticipated Galaxy Macau will open in 2010 in Cotai. This outstanding property will be a complete centre of entertainment and fine accommodation in what's touted to be the gaming capital of the world.
