GEG Inaugurates the “Integrated Resort Youth Development Program” in Collaboration with DSAL to Cultivate Local Talents for the Integrated Tourism and Leisure Sector

May 23, 2023 Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) proactively supports the Macau SAR Government’s policy of “Building Macau through Talent Training” through multi-pronged approaches to support holistic development and priority employment of local talents and to contribute to the sustainable development of the integrated resort industry. To encourage local talents to explore diverse career paths, GEG and the Labor Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government (“DSAL”) jointly launched an “Integrated Resort Youth Development Program” (“Program”) that provides comprehensive training and career development opportunities for Macau residents wishing to develop their careers in the integrated resort sector. Since its admission, the Program has been well-received that, to support more talents in joining the GEG family, GEG increased its training quota to more than 50. Today, GEG hosted the program’s inauguration ceremony, which was attended by Mr. Wong Chi Hong, Director of DSAL, who officiated the ceremony and witnessed the personal and professional accomplishments of the participating elites.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Banyan Tree Ballroom of Galaxy Macau™. Other officiating guests included Ms. Lei Lai Keng, Head of Employment Department of DSAL; Ms. Cheung Wai, Head of Vocational Training Department of DSAL; Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG; Mr. Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer – Macau of GEG. In his speech, Mr. Wong Chi Hong said, “DSAL attaches great importance to talent cultivation and thanks GEG for its support and cooperation to jointly launched the ‘Integrated Resort Youth Development Program’, with an aim of fostering employment and upward mobility of local residents whilst facilitating quality development of the tourism sector. We are also greatly encouraged by the Program’s keen participation and the fact that the number of admissions are beyond our expectations. We hope the Program can offer participants with professional knowledge, skills, and valuable work experience.” Ms. Eileen Lui said, “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to DSAL for its continuous guidance and support to the Program. GEG pledges to support Macau’s development and constantly allocates resources to provide local residents with various employment opportunities, and spares no effort in cultivating Macau’s future leaders, in hopes of enhancing the city’s talent reserve and quality of industry experts. We look forward to seeing more outstanding talents grow and make great strides in their future careers.”

Meticulously curated by GEG for over six months, the Program identified local residents interested in advancing their careers in food and beverage, housekeeping and VIP hospitality through two job fairs and external promotional activities. The Program provides participants with 300 hours of professional training over a 12-month period, including training on the renowned Asian Heart service philosophy and a diverse and extensive range of pre-employment and on-the-job training conceived and arranged by various GEG departments. These trainings aim at equipping the participants with a holistic understanding of GEG’s hospitality culture and development prospects, whilst helping them acquire the practical knowledge and skills in their daily work. In addition, the Program also offers participants with a wide array of professional certification training opportunities, helping them to gain various international accreditation in areas such as wine, tea art, food safety, housekeeping supervision, and management and leadership, so that they can strengthen their competitive advantage and enhance their vertical mobility.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Program participants put on their respective professional wear or uniforms of new projects’ opening team and stood on stage to demonstrate their professional confidence and mark the beginning of a new chapter in their career. At the sharing session, the participants shared their experiences and thanked DSAL and GEG for the valuable opportunity, they also believed that the Program helped lay a solid foundation for their future professional aspirations and growth. Furthermore, various department heads and experienced team members who acted as “Sifus” were also invited to attend to provide encouragement and support to the participants.

Upholding its corporate philosophy of “what is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, GEG has been proactively supporting and promoting Macau’s talent cultivation. This year, GEG has held more than 30 diverse activities with DSAL with aims of nurturing Macau’s future talents. To support DSAL on its Internship Career Experience Program for the third consecutive year, GEG also relaunched the U-LEAD Graduate Internship Program. These include the IR-LEAD Career Diversification Program, the Restaurant Manager Development Program, and the Facilities Management Upskilling Program. Moving forward, GEG will continue to support the Macau SAR Government’s policies on cultivating more local talents and elites in different fields, and help drive forward Macau’s development as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure.”
