GEG Supports “Art Macao” and Unveils “BE@RBRICK MACAU - World’s First Immersive BE@RBRICK Art Exhibition” at Galaxy Macau to Enrich Local Arts and Cultural Offerings

July 31, 2023 Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has been proactively supporting, participating in and organizing various arts and cultural activities to enliven the arts and cultural atmosphere of the Macau community. GEG is honored to participate in the “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023” (“Art Macao”) hosted under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macau SAR Government, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (“ICM”) and co-organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (“MGTO”). As one of Art Macao’s special exhibitions, the “BE@RBRICK MACAU - World’s First Immersive BE@RBRICK Art Exhibition” (“Special Exhibition”) organized by GEG and co-organized by Forward Fashion Group, is open to the public for free at Galaxy Macau™ Integrated Resort from July 29 to September 22. As the most extensive BE@RBRICK themed exhibition ever seen in Macau, more than 10 international and local artists and designers were invited to bring these large-scale art installations to life in GEG’s property, and to create the world’s first BE@RBRICK exhibition that combines elements of technology and digital art and presents to visitors and the public a new immersive arts and cultural interactive experience. This Special Exhibition also includes a series of extended events, including the “Power of Art - Contemporary Art & Fashion: A Driving Force of the Cultural Industry Development” Art Forum and a number of art workshops that aim to facilitate arts and cultural exchange, and the development of the local arts and cultural sector.

Today, the Special Exhibition was inaugurated at Galaxy Macau’s Pearl Lobby by Mr. Yin Rutao, Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR; Ms. Leong Wai Man, Director of ICM; Mr. Cheng Wai Tong, Acting Director of MGTO; Ms. Lam Lin Kio, Acting President of the Sports Bureau; Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG; Mr. Buddy Lam, Executive Vice President of Corporate Office of GEG; Ms. Hazel Wong, Executive Vice President of Retail of GEG; as well as Mr. Patrick Fan, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Forward Fashion Group, Mr. Tatsuhiko Akashi, CEO of MEDICOM TOY; and Ms. Izumi Suga, Vice President of MEDICOM TOY. During the inauguration ceremony, several of the commissioned artists were invited for a sharing of their inspirations and experience. Meanwhile, in his remarks, Mr. Philip Cheng said: “GEG has been using multi-pronged approaches to connect the community through art. For this Special Exhibition, we invited local and internationally-renowned artists to work together, and to create an exhibition that we hope, can provide more opportunities for local artists in displaying their work, as well as further strengthen Macau’s integration of ‘tourism + art’ and help the Macau SAR Government in promoting the city’s unique and diverse cultural charm.”

The exhibits of the Special Exhibition are presented in multiple context at various locations in Galaxy Macau, including the GalaxyArt, Pearl Lobby and Outdoor Lawn. The exhibits include a number of art installations by internationally renowned Japanese artist Tatsuhiko Akashi and a group of artists and designers, such as the world debut of BE@RBRICK digital art, the world’s first and tallest MY FIRST BE@RBRICK BABY 10000% inflatable art installation, the BE@RBRICK art collection created by Macau’s emerging artist, MCZ_Thomas and other local artists with Galaxy Macau as inspiration, as well as more than 50 BE@RBRICK art pieces from past BE@RBRICK MACAU exhibitions.

This afternoon, a “Power of Art - Contemporary Art & Fashion: A Driving Force of the Cultural Industry Development” Art Forum was also held at the Galaxy Auditorium of the Galaxy International Convention Center, as part of the extended activities of this Special Exhibition, inviting experienced professionals and experts from the arts and fashion industry as the forums’ guest speakers, and in-depth discussion was conducted on the theme of “contemporary art + fashion culture” in Macau. To promote cross-discipline exchanges and cooperation in arts and culture, GEG invited sectors to participate in the in-person forum, including members from a number of local arts organizations, social service organizations, and youths. Meanwhile, online live broadcast was also available for wider dissemination in hopes of uniting all sectors through art.

In addition to providing guided tours for a number of local organizations at GalaxyArt, GEG also invited local artist to conduct graffiti art workshops on weekends during the exhibition period to guide the public to make eco-friendly bags with graffiti art features, thus enhancing the vitality of arts and culture in the community. As well, GEG also sponsored the Invitational Exhibition by Local Artists, a major event of the Art Macao, and support local artist Bunny Lai in presenting her new art piece “Fountain of Vision”, which takes inspiration from “the interconnection of science and religion” for display at “‧ ART SPACE” of Macao Cultural Centre, in hopes of facilitating the development of the local arts industry through concrete actions.

Since the debut of Art Macao in 2019, GEG has supported and participated in its related events for the 3rd consecutive time. Previously, GEG presented the world-class exhibition “GRACE KELLY: From Hollywood to Monaco – Artists’ Tributes” as part of the 1st Art Macao, while “Juxtapose” art exhibition was also presented as a special exhibition of the 2nd Art Macao. Moving forward, GEG will continue to join hands with the Macau SAR Government and the community to present enriching arts and cultural experiences, in hopes of supporting Macau’s development as the “Base for Exchange and Cooperation where Chinese Culture is the Mainstream and Diverse Cultures Coexist.”
