GEG Holds Blessing Ceremony for 2024 Macao International Dragon Boat Races; Organizes Team Members to Participate for 19th Consecutive Year

June 3, 2024 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has been promoting Macau’s sports development through different initiatives over the years, and actively encourages its team members to engage in different sports events and recreational activities. For the 19th consecutive year, GEG will organize its team members to participate in the Macao International Dragon Boat Races. Recently, a blessing ceremony was held to wish for a smooth race for the six teams formed by GEG team members from its different properties and the GEG dragon boats.
The blessing ceremony took place at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre, which was attended by Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG; Mr. Andy Lee, Deputy Director of Operations of StarWorld Hotel; Ms. Hazel Wong, Executive Vice President of Retail of GEG; Mr. James Koratzopoulos, Executive Vice President of Hotels and MICE Operations; Mr. Danny Lao, Vice President of Human Resources and Administration of GEG and Chairperson of the GEG Staff Social Club, and other executives. The ceremony included traditional rituals such as eye-dotting ceremonies and cutting roasted pigs by GEG executives to bestow good luck on the GEG dragon boats: Galaxy Stars, Galaxy Pearl, Galaxy Universe, Galaxy Glamour, Galaxy Phoenix and Galaxy Elegance. Red packets were also distributed to the GEG Dragon Boat Team members to encourage them to make continuous efforts in the race and strive for excellence.
Mr. Tyson Hoi, Captain of the GEG Dragon Boat Team, said, “We truly thank the company for placing considerable value on dragon boat sport and provided us with diverse supports over the years. In addition to supporting our participation in the Macao International Dragon Boat Races to gain practical experience, the company also actively organizes cheering teams to root for our team, which deeply encourages us. We will continue to give our full play in this year’s races, demonstrate our strong team spirit and strive for excellence.”
Over the years, GEG has been supporting Macau in hosting various sports events and activities through multi-pronged approaches. GEG has been one of the organizers of major international sports events such as the “Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao Presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group” and the “ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2024 Presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group” held at the Galaxy Arena, as well as the Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon and the WTT Champions Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group that have been held for many years, all with an aim of helping to build Macau into a “City of Sports”. A number of sports teams have also been set up through the GEG Staff Social Club, and team members have been encouraged to participate in sports activities such as basketball games, soccer games and bowling fun day, in hopes of promoting physical exercise and advocating the importance of work-life balance.
