February 26, 2025 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has long been committed to supporting the Macau SAR Government’s policy of “Building Macau with Talent Training” through various initiatives aimed at cultivating local professionals for the integrated tourism and leisure industry. Since 2023, GEG has partnered with the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government (“DSAL”) to co-organize the “GEG Integrated Resort Youth Development Program” (“the IR Youth Program”), which has provided over 180 local talents with diverse employment opportunities in Food & Beverage, Hotel & MICE Operations, Integrated Resort Services, Security Operations & Asset Protection, and Transportation. Meticulously curated to include up to 300 hours of professional courses and vocational training, the IR Youth Program offers comprehensive support for participants to enhance their personal and professional development. Today, GEG hosted the “GEG IR Youth Program Talent Development Showcase and Ceremony” to recognize the outstanding achievements of the participants, where Mr. Wong Chi Hong, Director of DSAL, attended to show support.
The ceremony was held this afternoon at the Ballroom of Banyan Tree Macau at Galaxy Macau™, in the presence of other distinguished guests, including Mr. Chan Un Tong and Mr. Chan Chon U, Deputy Directors of DSAL; Ms. Lei Lai Keng, Head of the Employment Department of DSAL; Ms. Cheung Wai, Head of the Vocational Training Department of DSAL; Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG; Mr. Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG; and Mr. Roger Lienhard, Executive Vice President of Hospitality of Galaxy Macau. In his speech, Mr. Wong Chi Hong said, “DSAL has introduced a wide variety of employment support measures, including collaborating with integrated resort operators to co-launch the ‘Employment + Training Program’, aimed at attracting local residents to join the integrated tourism and leisure industry, which has been well received. In particular, with our collaboration with GEG, we have implemented nine specialized programs to date and achieved ideal results. We appreciate GEG’s support and collaboration in nurturing local talent in Macau, offering diverse training opportunities, and actively encouraging employees to obtain nationally or internationally recognized professional certifications, which helps establish a sustainable career pathway for local residents.”
Ms. Eileen Lui said in her speech, “I would like to extend our gratitude to DSAL for its guidance and support in co-launching the IR Youth Program. The GEG team spent six months to thoughtfully design the courses and training programs to ensure they are practical and beneficial for the participants. The participants achieved an average of four industry-recognized certifications through this program, with some having successfully seized upward mobility opportunities, which is truly encouraging. We look forward to closer collaborations with DSAL to enrich the talent pool for Macau’s integrated tourism and leisure industry.”
The IR Youth Program covered an extensive range of pre-employment, on-the-job, and professional certification training, as along with training on GEG’s renowned “Asian Heart” service philosophy. Experienced industry professionals and relevant department heads were invited to serve as mentors, known as “SiFus”, providing a multifaceted approach to help participants build a solid work foundation and enhance their professional skills. Mr. Moses Chan, a GEG team member who completed the program, shared his experience at the ceremony, “I am grateful for the support from DSAL and GEG. The IR Youth Program offered diverse training and numerous practical opportunities, significantly enhancing my comprehensive vocational skills in a short time and benefitting my career development.” Additionally, several talent showcase booths were featured at the ceremony, allowing program participants from various departments, alongside their experienced “SiFus”, demonstrated a series of professional vocational and service skills learned.
GEG has always adhered to its corporate philosophy of “What is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, leveraging its resources to promote the comprehensive development of local talent. This includes ongoing support for DSAL’s Internship Program through the “U-LEAD Graduate Internship Program” hosted for five consecutive years to provide local graduates with a three-month internship opportunity at large-scale integrated resorts, and hosting of the “IR-LEAD Career Diversification Program” to enable team members accumulate cross-department work experiences and explore lateral development opportunities. Last year, GEG also collaborated with the Macao University of Tourism to launch the “Experience Macao with GEG Program”, providing frontline team members in customer service with an in-depth understanding of Macau’s tourism and historical culture, thereby deepening industry talent’s relevant knowledge. Moving forward, GEG will continue to actively align with the Macau SAR Government's talent cultivation and development policies, cultivate diverse talent for Macau, and advance its positioning as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure”.
