GEG Hosts “Sharing Session of the NPC and CPPCC”

March 25, 2026 – As a patriotic Chinese enterprise deeply rooted in Macau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has long fostered patriotism through a wide range of initiatives engaging team members, local youth, and the wider community. Today, GEG hosted the “Sharing Session of the NPC and CPPCC – GEG National Education Series” at the Galaxy Auditorium of the Galaxy International Convention Center. The event featured keynote sharing by Mr. Ho Ion Sang, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (“CPPCC”) and Vice President of the Legislative Assembly of the Macau SAR; Mr. Kevin Ho King Lun, Deputy to the National People’s Congress (“NPC”) from the Macau SAR and Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Macau SAR; and Mr. Francis Lui, Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Chairman of GEG. The session was also attended by Mr. Sun Yaohua, Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government (“CLO”) in the Macau SAR, and was moderated by Dr. Davis Fong Ka Chio, Director and Professor of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau.

Conducted in a hybrid on-site and online format, the session conveyed the spirit of the “Two Sessions” to over 800 executives from K.Wah Group, GEG, and its subsidiary K. Wah Construction Materials, across Macau, Hong Kong, Hengqin, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Eastern China, Northern China and Yunnan. GEG will also produce a highlights video for replay in back-of-house areas across its properties, allowing the key messages of the “Two Sessions” to reach over 20,000 team members. For the first time, GEG invited students and teachers from the “GEG Macau Cup – Youth National Education Competition” (“GEG Macau Cup”) to attend, marking the opening activity of the competition’s 18th edition. This initiative helped students deepen their understanding of the country’s overall development and national context.

During the sharing session, keynote speakers provided in-depth interpretations of the Central Government’s work report, outlining the country’s overall strategy for the new stage of economic and social development while sharing their personal experiences in contributing to national deliberations. As 2026 marks the launch of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the speakers focused on the positioning and development direction of Hong Kong and Macau, with particular emphasis on Macau’s core mission to “better integrate into, and serve the overall national development framework”. Discussions covered a range of development priorities, including promoting Macau’s moderate economic diversification; strengthening the “One Center, One Platform, One Base” positioning; enhancing collaboration across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau; advancing Macau-Hengqin integration; and leveraging institutional and locational advantages to accelerate the establishment of an international hub for high-caliber talents.

Mr. Ho Ion Sang said, “Macau is actively advancing the ‘1+4’ appropriate diversification development strategy, with the goal of building a ‘World Center of Tourism and Leisure’ and striving for excellence in the integrated tourism and leisure industry. The healthy and orderly development of the tourism industry is not only a key driver of Macau’s economy but also an important pillar of social stability. Through close cooperation between the Macau SAR and the industry, Macau’s tourism brand continues to strengthen, and the country’s 15th Five-Year Plan will bring significant opportunities. Amid increasing tourism competition from surrounding regions, Macau must further enhance quality and efficiency, consolidate its competitive advantages, and actively expand source markets. At the same time, all sectors of society should contribute their expertise to jointly elevate Macau’s cultural and tourism development.”

Mr. Kevin Ho King Lun said, “The country has successfully achieved all the targets set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan and has laid out comprehensive strategies for the 15th Five-Year Plan, instilling strong confidence in the country’s development over the next five years. The Central Government’s work report calls on Hong Kong and Macau to enhance governance in accordance with the rule of law, serving as an important roadmap for advancing institutional and governance modernization and reflecting high expectations for the long-term development of both SARs. Macau must align itself with the country’s overall strategic planning, coordinate its own five-year plan, deepen collaboration with Hong Kong and Guangdong, and work together to strengthen the overall competitiveness of the Greater Bay Area.”

Mr. Francis Lui expressed his sincere gratitude to the CLO for its longstanding support, to Mr. Ho Ion Sang and Mr. Kevin Ho King Lun for their insightful sharing, and to Dr. Davis Fong Ka Chio for moderating the session, which had helped GEG team members and local students gain a deeper understanding of the country’s development direction and provided important references for future practice. He said, “As the 15th Five-Year Plan commences this year, Hong Kong and Macau will further align their respective five-year plans with the country’s overall development strategy. We must harness the power of technology and fully leverage Macau’s strengths in culture, sports, and tourism. At the same time, we should seize the policy support and spatial resources of the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin to enhance overall capacity and future development potential. GEG will remain closely aligned with the country’s development strategies and Macau SAR’s policy priorities, continuing to build on its strengths to support Macau in achieving high-quality growth.” During the subsequent Q&A session, GEG executives and students from the “GEG Macau Cup” actively engaged with the keynote speakers, raising questions on national policies and Macau’s development in a lively atmosphere.

Over the years, GEG has actively promoted national education, with the aim of deepening understanding of its team members and local youth. As the first integrated tourism and leisure enterprise to promote national education among youth in Macau, GEG has sponsored the “GEG Macau Cup” for 18 consecutive years, guiding local students to gain deeper insights into national development trends and broaden their horizons. Through the “GEG National Education Series”, GEG has also organized diverse exchange activities for students, teachers, social service organizations, and team members. These included patriotic film screenings last year, such as “Ne Zha 2”, “Dead To Rights” and “Yang Jingyu”; participation in the thematic exhibition “Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War”; support for the Grand Thought Think Tank Seminar Series; and annual visits to the “National Security Education Exhibition”, which strengthened national security awareness. In addition, this year’s “GEG Youth Achievement Program” adopted the theme “Heart in Macau, Roots in China”, further reinforcing patriotic spirit among youth. Looking ahead, GEG will continue to advance national education through diverse initiatives, fostering patriotism and love for Macau within the community.
