Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Revitalization Project Officially Handed Over to District Development Center; GEG Continues to Support Community Tourism
July 1, 2026 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has been actively supporting the Macau SAR Government’s efforts to promote community tourism. Since 2023, GEG has partnered with the Macau SAR Government to revitalize the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards area, upgrading infrastructure, introducing interactive high-tech installations, and curating a diverse range of community events to preserve and promote Macau’s traditional shipbuilding heritage while enriching the cultural tourism experience for residents and visitors alike. In line with the development model of “government-led coordination, business resources investment and community-based organization”, from today, the area will be managed and operated by the District Development Center, marking a new phase in its development.
Since 2023, GEG has continuously contributed resources and expertise to the project, delivering a series of cultural, sports, and community initiatives. These included welcoming national gold medalists from various sports disciplines to the area and title-sponsoring the “Galaxy Entertainment Macau Culture City Carnival”, helping to promote greater appreciation of Coloane’s cultural history and the district’s unique character. GEG also introduced a variety of festive and community-focused experiences, including the “Galaxy Entertainment Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Ice Skating Carnival” featuring a real-ice skating rink, the “Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Spring Festival Bazaar of Fortune” during Chinese New Year, and a summer-themed bazaar developed in collaboration with a local original IP, bringing added vibrancy to the community. In addition, through traditional shipbuilding craft demonstrations, the “GEG Shipbuilding Cultural Ambassador Program,” guided tours, and exchange activities, GEG has helped showcase Macau’s shipbuilding history and the cultural significance of the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards. Looking ahead, GEG will continue to support the Macau SAR Government’s community tourism initiatives and promote cross-sector integration under the “Tourism+” strategy, contributing to the diversified and sustainable development of Macau’s integrated tourism and leisure industry.
