Galaxy Entertainment Group and Caritas Macau Hold Inclusive Arts Workshop for People with Disabilities

April 14, 2015 – For promoting the spirit of caring and injecting positive energy into the society, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) and Caritas Macau held the “Me and My Galaxy” Inclusive Arts Workshop for people with disabilities at the East Square of Galaxy Macau™ on Saturday. During the workshop, the GEG volunteer team and 40 service users of Caritas Macau created together a painting of six meters by two meters to foster social inclusion of persons with disabilities and able bodies.

A total of 40 members from five rehabilitation centers under Caritas Macau participated in the “Me and My Galaxy” Inclusive Arts Workshop. The centers are Lar Sao Luis Gonzaga, Lar De Nossa Senhora Da Penha, Santa Margarida, Sunshine Center and Santa Lucia. Mr. Paul Pun, Secretary General of Caritas Macau, said the workshop was meaningful as it gave their members an equal opportunity to participate in arts creation and promote social integration for all. “We are grateful that not only has GEG committed to its business, but it has also continuously assisted those in need in the community. Through interacting with the GEG volunteer team, our members have more opportunities to stay in touch with the society, improve their emotional management and social recognition,” he said.

Mr. Buddy Lam, Vice President of Public Relations of GEG, believed this workshop served as a platform of mutual understanding and sharing between people with autism and people in the community. “GEG is honored to support Caritas Macau and continuously make valuable contributions to the community. As a responsible corporate citizen, not only has GEG committed to its business development, but it has actively involved in local community services and promoted healthy development of the Macau community,” he said.
Led by the staff of the rehabilitation centers, the members were all very excited to meet the GEG volunteer team at the East Square of Galaxy Macau on the day of the event. Both the members and the GEG volunteers worked together to showcase their creativity and team spirits, and completed a large-scale painting of significance. Satisfying smiles swept across the faces of the members while the volunteers were delighted for bringing joys to the members.

Ms. Vong Si Man, a GEG volunteer, said the event was meaningful that it enhanced her understanding with different people in the community. “I learnt to be content and grateful for what I have through this workshop, and I learned to tackle difficulties and challenges with a smile and a positive mindset,” she added. Apart from this workshop, it also marks the third consecutive year for GEG to sponsor Caritas Macau to hold the prize presentation ceremony and the exhibition of the “Me and My…” painting competition at East Square of Galaxy Macau.
