GEG Hosts Galaxy Got Talent ; Fundraiser for Macau Down Syndrome Association

Sep 22, 2016 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) held the grand finale of the eighth of Galaxy Got Talent at JW Marriott Hotel Macau tonight. All proceeds from the ticket sales going to the Macau Down Syndrome Association. The theme of this year’s competition was “All Round Talent.” Among the ten most outstanding contestants, J-C, He Wen Le and Simon Gao grabbed the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards; and Thousand Hands Guan Yin, Golden Lac, J-C, The Halves, Jonathan Sanchez and Simon Gao took the Best Image Award, Best Showmanship Award, Best Creativity Award, Best Presentation Award, Facebook Most LIKE Award and Best Audience Choice Award.  

Mr. Huang Huagai, Deputy Secretary General and Director-General of Department of Social Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Hon Wai, representative of the President of Social Welfare Bureau, Vice President of Social Welfare Bureau; Ms. Mang Sui Yee, representative of the Director of Labour Affairs Bureau, Head of Employment Department of the Labour Affairs Bureau; Mr. Ken Cheang, representative of the Director of Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, Head of Audit Department of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau together with Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG; Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration, GEG and Mr. Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer, Macau, GEG officiated the event. GEG constantly advocates in giving back to the community and dedicates to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility in a variety of ways. Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG, presented a cheque for MOP100,000 to Mr. Cheong Ho Ian, President of Macau Down Syndrome Association. Mr. Cheong expressed his gratitude for the donation and for GEG’s support of the community through various charitable activities. The donation will be used for the association’s daily operations, focusing on improving the standard of living for people with Down syndrome.

The ten finalists’ performances included stage magic, dancing, juggling, drama and more. The finalists said that after practicing for a few months, their performance skills and confidence had improved and that they were thrilled to be on stage. Just before the winners were announced, the GEG management team, dressed in stylish costumes, did their own stage performance. This year, the judging panel was comprised of Mr. Cheong Ho Ian, President of Macau Down Syndrome Association; Mr. Antonio Almeida, Magician of Dream Concept Macau; Ms. Joanna Barnes, Chairperson of GEG Staff Social Club; Ms. Trancy Koh, Vice President of Production, Entertainment, GEG and Director of 2016 Galaxy Got Talent; Mr. Kevin Wong, Assistant Vice President of Production, Entertainment, GEG. Beyond the rigorous evaluation, apart from the Galaxy Got Talent Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards, the judges had also promulgated several awards including Facebook Most LIKE Award, Best Presentation Award, Best Showmanship Award, Best Creativity Award, Best Image Award and Best Audience Choice Award.

This year is the eighth consecutive year that GEG organizes the “Galaxy Got Talents”, and to add originality to the competition, a different theme is selected each year for our contestants, including “Movies and Musicals” and “Walk through the Ages” that were introduced last year and in 2014, respectively.  The annual themes act as an inspiration for team members to get creative on their costume, image and performance design, which provides an unforgettable experience for the attending judges and audiences.
