On July 8, GEG took home a second runner-up in the Macau leg of the 9th Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau (GHKM) Safety Knowledge Competition.

The GHKM Safety Knowledge Competition aims to increase participants’ understanding on occupational safety and relevant laws and regulations. We also gained relevant knowledge from the promotional activities held at GEG.” Mr. Chan Chee Pong, Senior Vice President of Facilities Management of Galaxy MacauTM, said, “I want to thank my team members for their participation in the competition. GEG will continue to ensure our employees work in a safe environment and to offer relevant activities and trainings.”

GEG has been working closely with DSAL, hosting a series of occupational safety and health activities at StarWorld Hotel and Galaxy Macau in March and June. The Health & Safety You Should Know roadshow offered talks to educate team members on preventing workplace accidents and occupational diseases. Two experience programs were set up in the back-of-house areas: the Safety Special Force, which taught team members correct posture through competitive games, and the Occupational Health Promotion Station, which taught team members about improving their physical fitness by testing their grip strength, back strength and sit and reach ability. The experience programs attracted 14 teams to participate in the Occupational Safety and Health Competition Day. Ms. Lam Iok Cheong, Head of Occupational Safety & Health Department of DSAL presented awards and prizes to the members of the winning teams.

GEG recognizes its team members as its most valuable assets, proactively promoting safety and health in the workplace and constantly improving its safety procedures and control measures. The certification is comprised of the ISO 14001 EMS Certification and the British Standards (BS) OHSAS 18001, which Galaxy Macau received in 2013 and 2015 respectively. GEG was the biggest winner in the Macau SAR Government Labour Affairs Bureau’s 2016 DSAL Catering Industry Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Program, receiving 27 awards.
