GEG Continues to Cooperate with UGAMM to Promote Mutual Neighborhood Support

September 17, 2019 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) works closely with a range of social service associations in Macau to encourage a caring culture in the community. For the past 8 years, GEG has been cooperating with the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) on activities such as paying home visits to users of the Peng On Tung Tele-Assistant Services Centers (Peng On Tung), and sponsoring key services and activities to foster a community care network.

In the Community Caring Program 2019, Dr. Jorge Neto Valente, Group Advisor of GEG, donated MOP920,000 to the UGAMM Peng On Tung Charity Foundation. The donation was received by Mr. Leong Heng Kao, President of UGAMM, who said it would be used to subsidize the use of the Peng On Tung service and Peng On Tung Outdoor-Assistance Service for individuals with financial difficulties. He added that “I sincerely thank GEG and its volunteer team for their continuing support and valued contribution to the community over the years”.  Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of GEG, said that the mission and philosophy of UGAMM resonates with GEG. GEG is delighted to be working with the association over the years to contribute to the creation of an inclusive community where those-in-need receive adequate support.

After the ceremony, a group of guests visited merchants to convey the spirit of mutual support to strengthen the community care network, spread disaster preparedness information, and promote public awareness of home safety in the community. In addition, GEG organized volunteers to pay home visits to Peng On Tung service users, where they shared with the elderly information about disaster preparedness and emergency response to strengthen community awareness of disaster prevention.

Mr. Sunny Lung, Senior Category Manager of Procurement and Warehousing, said, “I feel fulfilled and delighted to visit elderly residents and sincerely agree that neighborhood harmony is the cornerstone to community stability.” Amongst the volunteers were Japanese students from the GEG Japan-Macau Integrated Resort Management Mentorship Scheme. They said participating in volunteer activities gave them a better understanding of how GEG practices corporate social responsibility and contributes to the community.

GEG has been sponsoring 300 service users for three years since the launch of the Peng On Tung Outdoor-Assistance Service in 2019. Prior to the typhoon season, GEG organized home visits to Peng On Tung service users and distributed typhoon emergency kits. GEG will continue to participate in all types of charitable events, contribute to improving social welfare in the community, and encourage its team members to serve and share love and joy with the underprivileged in their leisure time.
