GEG organized “Blood Donation Activity” for employees

July 7, 2010

As a responsible corporate citizen, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) is committed to the development and wellbeing of Macau. Fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities, GEG collaborated with the Macao Blood Transfusion Centre (“Blood Transfusion Centre”) and organized its second “Blood Donation Activity” this Wednesday at the grand ballroom of its flagship property – StarWorld Hotel (“StarWorld”).

Organized to support the Blood Transfusion Centre with its blood collection needs, StarWorld’s grand ballroom was chosen as the venue for this event to allow flexibility for more GEG team members to participate during their normal working hours.

Demonstrating the family’s team spirit, Mr. Michael Mecca, President and Chief Operating Officer of GEG, Ms. Eileen Lui, Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG, Mr. Gabriel Hunterton, Chief Operating Officer of StarWorld, Mr. Heinz Roelz, Director of Hotels and Hospitality of GEG, and other GEG executives also attended the “Blood Donation Activity”. The event was well received by GEG members, who packed StarWorld’s grand ballroom as they waited patiently for registered doctors and nurses to conduct the examination and for GEG volunteers to assist them with their blood donation registration procedures.

“As part of our corporate values and commitment to Macau, GEG is attentive to the community’s needs and acts responsively to sustain the community’s wellbeing. Understanding that Macau has over 500,000 population of which approximately 9,300 individuals had donated blood in year 2009, we organized this meaningful event to give GEG members the flexibility of donating blood during work hours so that we can collectively contribute to helping Macau maintain a stable blood supply. I am extremely grateful for our members’ generosities and I would like to thank the Macao Blood Transfusion Centre again for collaborating with us on this event,” said Mr. Mecca.

Over 100 GEG members visited StarWorld’s grand ballroom throughout the day to donate blood, encourage and support their members. As a community activity with GEG’s distinctive “Asian Heart” and caring elements, buffet lines were made available throughout the day for blood donors to replenish their energies both before and after their blood donations. In addition, GEG also invited the “Blood Donation Activity” mascot to cheer for its members, take photos and assist the representatives from the Blood Transfusion Centre to distribute tailor-made souvenirs to thank GEG donors for their selfless contributions.
